Scientific production on academic plagiarism in Spanish journals: analysis over the period 2003-2019

Abstract

This study aims to characterise, through bibliometric indicators, the scientific production on academic plagiarism in universities in Spanish journals between 2003-2019. Using academic Google as a database, bibliometric indicators were calculated by using the software Publish or Perish v. 7.10 and 996 results were obtained, of which 155 articles were finally selected. From the analysis carried out, it is observed that of a total of 905 citations, the average is 181.00; 5.84 and 457.37 citations per year, articles and authors respectively. The publications have an h-index of 16 and a g-index of 19. In addition, the largest number of author's works individually (106 articles). The selected 155 articles were written by 411 authors, generating a collaboration index of 2.65. Also, the SciELO Electronic Library, in several of its variants, is the database that, with 29 results, houses the largest number of scientific publications on academic plagiarism in universities.
