Abstract

In the work carried out in small and medium-sized companies, when applying the SMAW process it is common to see that they use cheap materials such as A36 and A615 without considering the norms that in their codes and standards prevent the weldability of steels. To improve their productions and avoid rework, this study proposes the application of procedures that make it possible to avoid defects from the working of these two steels using welding. Therefore, it has been possible to experiment and carry out statistical approaches in the essential variables that are applied to the SMAW process, and that has an impact on the behavior of the properties of these metals. These variables are decisive at the time of a welding operation and process and by controlling them, poor results in the quality of the weldability of a product are prevented.
